AOOSHOP : Curation Marketing Analyzation and Pre 90s Clothing Shop

(2019 - 2021)

Started in 2020 when I was high school, I tracked the growth in demand of specific clothing pieces within an audience in fashion.. Specifically, this was the the sector in fashion where the references of high designer pieces were sought after.

This helped with what to keep and change regarding the selection of clothing to be sold.

Simple investing Strategy :

Tracking the sales of reocurring items and monitor specific fashion influencers.
If a piece kept reselling, then it meant counterparts would also see success.

EX: In 2019 carharrt started to see success within fashion due to Gallery dept. pioneering carhartt upcycling and Kanye’s style involving carhartt during 2019.
This meant Dickies and Wrangler were to see marginal gains with their popularity as they all were part of what “workwear” was I decided to buy any wrangler and dickies double knees before their popularity spiked and then sold all during the high peak.
Since Carhartt burned through their popularity, their prices in 2024 are not as high as before.

Similarly, Levis and their vintage jeans were also gaining tracion in 2019 due to many early influencers such as Ken Ijima, Ray Miah, and brands like Kapital using denim in a digestble manner that was appealing to the transtion that the streetwear audience had to different styles involving americana, and formal menswear.
Because of this, I decided to stock up on levis of all kinds. It just had to be produced 90s and before. They still hold their high prices.

Lastly, Russell hoodies and sweatshirts started to become popular as Kanye was wearing them in every papparazzi picture. Their popularity was also boosted by resellers such as damaged glitter and Akimbo Club , businesses that many celebrities stylists bought from. I decided to buy any I saw as they were already rising in price. Even now in 2024, their price is till up in the 100s.

Marketing Strategy:

Since I wanted people to know about my existence, I started to post fitpics during 2020 which gained traction. I achieved thsi through tagging different accounts that were also small at the tie. Some notable accounts include @Uniform.Display, @FitsonPoint, and @OshFits. Here I was able to reach more of the audience I was seeking for.

Other than this, I held in person sales which allowed me to sale outside of Depop and sale direct to customer. It was successful and I kept a clientele book.
Even in high school people began to catch on and I sold to them as well.

Here some examples of the clothes I sold  as evidence of these claims:

These specific carhartt pants sold in thrity minutes. I had underestimated my listing price and a someone picked them up quickly. The buyer, without stating their name, was a well known seller within celebrity stylists making my mistake worse.
Record: I sold 200 different carhartt pieces in the time I was elling clothing.

Dickies pants. I ended up selling close to 50 in this time.

Sold Listings of the Russell Hoodies in one day. While there are four in the picture I ended up selling over 100 in this time.

During 2020 was when I was sourcing at a fast rate. After 2020, I shifted to in person only as the fees started to skyrocket.
